Coach Vaughan Schwob

Certified Coach, PSA Basic Accreditation, Safe Sport Compliant

Hi! My name is Vaughan Schwob and I am a full coach for CIFSC. In my personal skating I was a 5 time finalist at the Upper Great Lakes Regionals Championships. At the Minnesota State Figure Skating Championships, Intermediate Ladies, a Sliver Medalist. The following year at Novice Ladies, a Sliver Medalist as well. I am a USFSA Double Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field and Free Skate, and a USFSA Bronze Medalist in Partnered Pattern Ice Dance. I trained under Master Rated coaches and competed Internationally. I have training in Ballet, Acro, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, Tango, Limon, and Improv. I also have experience in circus including Silks, Trapeze, and Lycra.

I am currently a student at Oberlin College in Oberlin Ohio, class of 2021. I have a 3.91 GPA and I am on track to have a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. My majors are Neuroscience and Psychology, I also have a minor in chemistry. I have a lot of experience in scientific research, I have been an Oberlin Workshop and Learning Leader, and have received multiple academic awards. I am a very organized and concise person, detail oriented, have time management, adaptability and troubleshooting skills.

I have been coaching since 2015 and hold a PSA Basic Accreditation. I teach jumps, spins, Moves in the Field, solo and partnered ice dance, connecting elements, and choreography. My extensive background in many different forms of dance, circus and some music, are especially helpful in ice dance, connecting elements, and choreography. I enjoy working with all ages and abilities of skaters! I have coached from the very basics of skating to the Senior level and have experience running a pole harness, partnering ice dance tests, teaching double and triple jumps, as well as advanced spins, advanced footwork and high level choreography. I love watching skaters work hard and achieve their goals, but I also want my skaters to be in a healthy, fun, and enjoyable training environment. I understand that some skaters just want to learn to do a few basic moves, while others may want to see if they can achieve more in the sport. Whatever you choose, I will help you the best way I can, by giving you a solid foundation on which to build more skills and therefore progress to your goals and/or your highest potential!

In my free time, reading, playing board games, spending time with friends, and playing with my cats are just a few of my favorite things to do.

Although I am in Ohio for most of the school year, I do come back over most breaks (every few months) and give regular FaceTime lessons when I am in Ohio. If you are interested in taking lessons or even just have a question, please don’t hesitate to contact me at or text me at (515)-468-3808!
