About Me Summer of 2017 I was selected to be a captain for a summer team. I was then selected to be the captain of a Fall team in the 2017-2018 Inaugural season of the CIDL (Central Iowa D League). My team the Wild Goose won the championship that season. I captained the Wild Goose for the 2018-2019 season where we finished third in our division. With my son turning two and playing floor hockey around the house, I decided to look into coaching. In 2018 I received my Level 1 Coaching certification. In 2019 I started working with CIFSC assisting with Learn to Skate as a volunteer coach. Later that season I was brought on to coach for CIFSC and have been coaching since. For the 2019-2020 CIDL season I took on the role of head coach of an adult novice team. Also in 2019 I decided to double down on my hockey knowledge and became a Level 1 USA Hockey Referee. I enjoy teaching all ages, from kids to adults, the fundamentals of hockey and more importantly skating. I continue to Coach, play, free skate, referee, and on rare occasions you may find me in goalie gear for a low-level adult game. I enjoy volunteer coaching for DMYHA and the Iowa Wild Junior Crash course and occasionally teaching new skaters at public skate. I strive to slow my skaters down and teach the fundamentals that are needed for skating. I started skating as an adult and have enjoyed every minute of Ice time. It's never too late to get into skating if you are looking for a coach feel free to contact me at HockeyCoachJake@gmail.com. |
